This year’s Ghost Encounters is shaping up to be one of the best family-friendly weekend events of the season. It takes place at the historic Canterbury Shaker Village in Canterbury on Saturday, October 22 from 3pm to 8pm. Canterbury Shaker Village has three great options for folks interested in attending:

• $4 gets you a single child (ages 6 to 17) admission – $6 value
• $6 gets you a single adult (18+) admission – $12 value
• $18 gets you a Family Four-Pack of 2 adult and 2 children admissions – $36 value

Ghost Encounters is an opportunity to experience the other-worldly feel of the 200-year-old historic site on an October evening. Take a ghost tour through the Village and hear about true stories–several in the actual spaces where these events took place. A talented group of professional actors will bring to life encounters the Shakers reported having at the Village. Families of all ages can trick-or-treat-or-create with Halloween-themed activities throughout the Village. Attendees are encouraged to wear a costume and join in the costume pageant at 3:15pm. Prizes will be awarded. Casual light fare will be available in the Creamery for an additional charge. The Museum Store will be open during Ghost Encounters.

Your ticket not only gets you admission to Ghost Encounters, but into the historic Shaker Village as well. Canterbury Shaker Village is an internationally-known non-profit museum founded in 1969 to preserve the heritage of the Canterbury Shakers. Designated as a National Historic Landmark for its architectural integrity and significance, the Village has 25 restored original Shaker buildings, 4 reconstructed Shaker buildings, and 694 acres of forests, fields, gardens, nature trails, and mill ponds under permanent conservation easement.

Canterbury Shaker Village is dedicated to preserving the 200-year legacy of the Canterbury Shakers and to providing a place for learning, reflection, and renewal of the human spirit. Visitors are encouraged to learn about the life, ideals, values, and history of the Canterbury Shakers through tours, programs, exhibits, research, and publications.
